A finger protector, a container and a finger protecting arrangement for pro- tecting user’s fingers from contamination The invention relates to a finger protector for protecting user's fingers from contam- ination, and the finger protector comprises three finger pockets: a first finger pocket, a second finger pocket and a thumb pocket, and a flexible hinge portion, and the finger pockets have a tip end of the finger pocket, a open end of the finger pocket, an upper side and a lower side, and the upper side and the lower side are on op- posing sides of the finger pocket, and the upper side corresponds to the upper side of the finger when the finger is positioned in the finger pocket, and the hinge portion has a first side, a second side, a first edge, a second edge, a first surface and a second surface, and the hinge portion is configured to be positioned against the palm of the user when the finger protector is in use. The invention relates also to a container for storing and disinfecting a finger protector for protecting user's fingers from contamination, and the finger protector is flexible material. The invention further relates to a finger protecting arrangement for protecting user’s fingers from contam- ination.
BACKGROUND It is a well-known fact that viruses and bacteria and such material can stick to the fingers from a contaminated surface or object. If the person who has this kind of — material on his or her fingers, touches his or her face, the viral material can easily end up to nose, eyes, or mouth. To prevent this, for example, disposable gloves may be used. However, such gloves are hard to put on, and using them produces unnecessary waste. Furthermore, they may impede the touch feel of the fingers and objects gripping.
O O 25 Patent publication US5749097 presents a fingernail protector for three fingers. The O protector comprises two sheaths for fingers and one sheath for the thumb of a user 2 working with solvents. The sheaths are connected by a tether. However, two adja- 9 cent finger sheaths are fixed inseparably to each other, thus hampering more com- E plicated operations with finger. Also, the tether is positioned in such a way that it 5 30 could accidentally catch nearby objects. S Patent publication GB2496649 discloses a finger cover arrangement for use in han- N dling and maintaining sterility of sterilised parts of a baby feeding system. The ar- rangement comprises two or three pockets. Each pocket is sized to receive a portion of one or two fingers of a user's hand. The pockets are essentially same size and they are connected by a strip. The pockets allow the fingers to be used to handle a sterilised part without contamination of the part by the fingers of the use. However, the structure of the pockets are such that any operation requiring a delicate touch is practically impossible.
A similar finger and protector is disclosed in patent publication US7117536. The protector comprises a C-shaped body for hand protection and grip enhancement. It includes a finger receiving pocket at a first end of the body and a thumb receiving pocket at a second end of the body. The fingers of a user are placed in the finger receiving pocket, while the thumb is placed in the thumb receiving pocket. This causes the user's palm to rest on a convex hinge portion. The increases the ability of the user to grasp objects securely and protect the user's hand from heated sur- faces. The C-shaped body is symmetrical about the hinge portion. This means that the pockets are same size, and thus any delicate operation, except handling hot pans, are impossible.
There is a clear need for a finger protector that allows complicated finger operations and still provides a good protection from finger contamination.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION The object of the invention is a solution that can significantly reduce the disad- vantages and drawbacks of the prior art. In particular, the object of the invention is a finger protector that prevents germs and pathogens stick on the skin of the fingers and would be easy to use and disinfect.
S The objects of the invention are attained with a device that is characterised by what N is stated in the independent patent claims. Some advantageous embodiments of the S 25 invention are disclosed in the dependent claims. 00 9 The invention is a flexible finger protector comprising three finger pockets which are E connected by connection straps to a hinge portion, a container for storing and clean- 5 ing the finger protector, and combination of both of them. The fingers which the S finger pockets protects are the thumb, the index finger, and the middle finger of the N 30 user. At least some of the finger pockets have holes on the upper surface of the N finger pocket. The container comprises a storage part and a lid part. Hot water in the storage part cleans the finger protector. On the lid part is an upper hole for letting water vapor out when the container contains water and finger protector.

DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS OF THE FIGURES The embodiments in the following description are given as examples only and some- one skilled in the art can carry out the basic idea of the invention also in some other way than what is described in the description. Though the description may refer to a certain embodiment or embodiments in several places, this does not mean that the reference would be directed towards only one described embodiment or that the described characteristic would be usable only in one described embodiment. The individual characteristics of two or more embodiments may be combined and new embodiments of the invention may thus be provided. Figure 1 shows an embodiment of a finger protector 100 as seen different directions, from the side (1a), from behind (1b), from below (1c) and from above (1d). The finger protector 100 is for protecting user's fingers from contamination. By the term contamination here is meant unwanted substances, such as bacteria, virus, dirt, and such, sticking on the user's fingers from a surface the user touch. The finger protector is manufactured from some flexible and elastic material, such as, for ex- ample, silicon. The material is suitable for disinfectation by heating. The finger pro- tector is one piece. In some embodiments some additional components may be added to the finger protector, for example, some strap arrangements for increasing S the fitting of the finger protector. 3 The finger protector 100 comprises three finger pockets: a first finger pocket 101, a 0 25 second finger pocket 102 and a thumb pocket 103, a flexible hinge portion 104, and 9 three connection straps: a first connection strap 105, a second connection strap 106 E and a third connection strap 107. The finger pockets have a tip end 110 of the finger 5 pocket, an open end 111 of the finger pocket, an upper side 112 and a lower side S 113. It must be noted that ‘upper side’ and ‘lower side’ are defined here by the po- O 30 sition the finger when it is placed into the finger pocket. The upper side of the finger (i.e. the side of the finger where the nail is) is towards the upper side of the finger pocket and the lower side of the finger (the side of the finger that is opposite the nail side) is towards the lower side of the finger pocket. The hinge portion 104 has afirst side 114, a second side 115, a first edge 116, a second edge 117, a first surface 118 and a second surface 119. The first surface is away from the hand and the second surface is against the hand when the finger protector is in use.
The first finger pocket 101 comprises a first hole 108 and the second finger pocket 102 comprises a second hole 109. The finger protector 100 further comprises three pulling extensions, a first pulling extension 120, a second pulling extension 121 and a third pulling extension 122. Connected to the first side 114 of the hinge portion 104 is a holding extension 123. The connection straps are configured to connect the finger pockets to the hinge portion 104. The first connection strap 105 is configured to connect the lower side 113 of first finger pocket 101 to the first edge 116 of the hinge portion.
The second connection strap 106 is configured to connect the lower side 113 of the second fin- ger pocket 102 to the first edge 116 of the hinge portion.
The third connection strap 107 is configured to connect the lower side of the thumb pocket 103 to the second edge 117 of the hinge portion.
The width of the connection strap is essentially the width of the finger that is meant to be set in the finger pocket which the connection strap is connecting to the hinge portion.
In some embodiments, for helping the finger protector 100 fitting better in the hand, the connection straps are at least partly trough like, i.e. in a cross-section of the connection strap the sides of the connection strap are higher than the middle part of the connection strap.
The hinge portion 104 is a saddlelike structure or partly saddlelike structure where the connection straps are connected.
When the finger protector 100 is in use, the second surface 119 is against the palm of the hand and the first surface 118 is outwards, and the first side 114 is in the area of the hand between the thumb and S 25 the index finger.
The hinge portion is configured to open and close (the edges move N closer and away from each other) following the movements of the fingers when the O finger protector is in use (i.e. the fingers are placed in the finger pockets). The third © connection strap 107 and the first connection strap 105 are connected opposite I each other, i.e. the thumb pocket 103 and the first finger pocket 101 are opposite when the finger protector is in rest.
The connection straps, and in the same time the O finger pockets, are on the corners of the hinge portion.
The thumb pocket is in the S corner formed by the second edge 117 and the first side 114. The first finger pocket S is in the corner formed by the first edge 116 and the first side 114. The second finger pocket 102 is in the corner formed by the first edge 116 and the second side 115. Naturally, there are embodiments where the connection straps may be placed differently. For example, the second side of the hinge portion may extend over the fixing point of the second connection strap 106. The finger protector 100 comprises a holding extension 123 connected to the first side 114 of the hinge portion 104. The holding extension is configured to curve to- wards the posterior side of the hand between the thumb and the index finger when the finger protector is in use, i.e. the holding extension curves away from the first surface 118 of the hinge portion. In some embodiments the finger protector com- prises a first connecting arrangement 124 and a second connecting arrangement
125. The first connecting arrangement is on the holding extension and the second connecting arrangement is on the second side 115 of the hinge portion. The con- necting arrangements are connecting an additional component to the finger protec- tor. In some embodiments this additional component is a holding strip and the hold- ing strip circle the hand on the posterior side of the hand when the finger protector is in use. The connecting arrangements are, for example, holes or snap fasteners. The finger protector 100 is configured in such a way that when the finger protector is wear by the user, the user’s index finger is in the first finger pocket 101, the user’s middle finger is in the second finger pocket 102 and the user's thumb is in the thumb pocket 103. The finger pockets are pockets of cups where fingers are placed. The finger pockets form a wall around the finger, and this wall protects the finger from contamination. The tip end 110 of the finger pocket resembles the tip of the finger, i.e. it is conical and roundish. The wall of the tip end is thinner than the wall of sur- rounding area of the tip end. In some embodiments the thickness of the material of the tip end of the finger pocket is less than the average thickness of the material of the finger pocket. The open end 111 of the finger pocket is shaped in such a way that setting the finger inside the finger pocket is easy. The connecting straps are N connected to the lower sides 113 of the finger pockets.
N O At the open ends 111 of the finger pockets on the upper sides 112 are pulling ex- © tensions. The first pulling extension 120 is connected to the first finger pocket 101, I the second pulling extension 121 is connected to the second finger pocket 102 and the third pulling extension 122 is connected to the thumb pocket 103. The pulling O extensions are for helping the user put the finger protector on and removing it. The S user may hold the pulling extension and at the same time push the finger in the S finger pocket or pull the finger pocket over the finger. When removing the finger protector, this is done by the opposite way. The pulling extensions have a first end of the pulling extension and a second end of the pulling extension, and the second end of the pulling extension is connected on the upper side of the finger pocket. In some embodiments the pulling extensions comprise a holding arrangement for im- proving the grip.
In some embodiments the holding arrangement is implemented by having parts with greater thickness than the thickness of some other part of the pulling extension.
For easing the grabbing the pulling extensions, the pulling exten- sions curve upwards in some embodiments.
This means that the pulling extension curve away from the lower side of the finger pocket the pulling extension is con- nected.
The first hole 108 and the second hole 109 are on the upper sides of the first finger pocket 101 and the second finger pocket 102. The holes have a first end, a second end, a first side and a second side.
In this embodiment, the holes are roughly rec- tangular.
Other shapes may be used.
The first end is towards the tip end 110 of the finger pocket, the second end is towards the open end 111 of the finger pocket.
The first side and the second side are on or towards the pocket sides of finger pocket.
The holes are placed in such a way that when the fingers are positioned in the finger pockets, the first knuckle joints are in the holes.
This means that the first knuckle joints are visible from the holes.
The hole makes bending the finger easier and the finger pocket stays firmly in its place around the finger.
The pocket sides of the finger pockets are areas between the upper side 112 and the lower side 113 of the finger pocket.
In some embodiments, the hole sides extend to the pocket sides.
In some embodiments, the finger pockets have a middle line between the upper side and the lower side.
The distance from the upper side and from the lower side to the middle line is equal.
The hole sides are at least partly above the middle line.
This keeps the finger pocket firmly in its place when the finger is bended.
In some embodiments, the thickness of the material (the wall of the finger pocket) of the finger pocket be- tween the holes of the finger pocket and the open end of the finger pocket on the o upper side of the finger pocket is thinner than the wall of the finger pocket at the O pocket sides near the open end of the finger pocket.
In some embodiments, the O thickness of the material of the finger pocket between the holes of the finger pocket 2 and the open end of the finger pocket on the upper side of the finger pocket is less 7 30 than the average thickness of material of the finger pocket. a = In this embodiment, the first finger pocket 101 and the second finger pocket 102 are = configured in such a way that when the finger protector 100 is in use, the open end S 111 of the first finger pocket 101 and the open end of the second finger pocket is N between the first knuckle joint and the second knuckle joint or near the second knuckle joint.
If the open end is near the second knuckle joint, the open end, and especially the upper side 112 near the open end, is shaped in such a way that when the finger is bended, the finger pocket walls near the open end do not work as a lever which pushes the finger out from the finger pocket.
It must be noted that in this embodiment the thumb pocket 103 does not have a hole.
There are embodiments where the thumb pocket also includes a hole posi- tioned similarly as the first hole 108 and the second hole 109. In this embodiment the thumb pocket is configured in such a way that the open end of the thumb pocket reaches the first knuckle joint of the thumb and structure of the thumb pocket is such that it does not disturb the bending of the thumb.

The upper hole 212 is configured to let water in the cavity 204 when the container 200 is closed, and let water vapor and steam out when the container is closed and the cavity contain hot water and the finger protector to be disinfected with the hot water. In some embodiments, around the upper hole on the upper surface 209 of the lid part 202 is a conical depression. In some embodiments, the conical depres- sion forms an extending cone on the inner surface of the lid part.
When disinfecting the finger protector, it is placed inside the container 200 in the cavity 204. Water is added in the cavity. The adding of the water can be done through the cavity opening 205 or the upper hole 212. In some embodiments, the container with the finger protector and water is placed in a microwave oven and it is used for heating the water. The upper hole and the side wall hole 207 release steam from inside the container. The container is removed from the oven and it is let to cool. Water is removed and the disinfected finger protector is let to dry for next use. In some embodiments, the closed casing with the finger protector inside it, is placed in boiling water. Naturally, the materials of the casing and the finger protector are such that they endure heat and water.
S 25 In some advantageous embodiment, the finger protector, which is used with the N container 200, is similar with some embodiment that was described earlier. In some O advantageous embodiment, the finger protector and the container, work as a com- © bination, where the finger protector protects fingers and the container is used for I storing the finger protector. The finger protector the user has used may be disin- fected before the storing or the finger protector may be disinfected in the container. = Figure 3 presents an embodiments where is a combination of a finger protector 300 O and a holding strip 326.
